Publication Schedule

BANUA: Jurnal Kesehatan Lingkungan

BANUA: Jurnal Kesehatan Lingkungan is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in environmental health sciences, environmental epidemiology, environmental health risk assessment, sanitation, environmental management, environmental toxicology, and related public health disciplines.

The journal is managed by the Department of Environmental Health and published by Poltekkes Kemenkes Palu, Indonesia. Since its establishment in 2021, BANUA has provided a scholarly platform for researchers, academics, environmental health professionals, and public health practitioners to disseminate original scientific findings.

To support regular publication and the timely dissemination of scientific knowledge, BANUA maintains a biannual publication schedule, with two regular issues published each year, in May and November.

1. Publication Frequency and Schedule

BANUA publishes two regular issues annually. Each volume corresponds to one calendar year and consists of two issues.

The publication schedule is organized as follows:

  • Issue 1: May

  • Issue 2: November

This publication schedule provides a consistent framework for organizing editorial activities, peer review, manuscript revisions, and article production.

The journal accepts manuscript submissions throughout the year. However, submission does not guarantee publication in a particular issue. Manuscripts are assigned to an issue after completing the required editorial evaluation, peer-review process, revisions, and final acceptance procedures.

The Editorial Board determines the allocation of accepted manuscripts based on editorial readiness, scientific quality, publication capacity, and the journal's established publication schedule.

BANUA is committed to maintaining its biannual publication frequency while ensuring that every published article meets the journal's scientific, ethical, and editorial standards.

2. Article in Press

BANUA may adopt an Article in Press publication mechanism to facilitate the early dissemination of accepted scientific manuscripts before the completion of a scheduled regular issue.

This mechanism, when implemented, will apply only to manuscripts that have successfully completed the required editorial screening, peer-review process, revisions, and final acceptance procedures.

Articles designated as Article in Press may be made available online before their assignment to a specific regular issue or before the completion of their final bibliographic information.

The following principles apply to this publication mechanism:

  1. Only manuscripts that have received formal editorial acceptance may qualify for early publication.

  2. Each article must satisfy the journal's scientific quality, originality, and publication ethics requirements.

  3. Manuscripts must complete the applicable copyediting, proofreading, and production procedures before online release.

  4. Accepted articles may receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) when appropriate and technically supported.

  5. Articles will subsequently be assigned to the relevant regular issue in accordance with the journal's publication schedule and editorial procedures.

  6. Bibliographic information will be updated when the final volume, issue, and other publication details become available.

The Article in Press mechanism does not replace formal editorial evaluation or the peer-review process.

Implementation of this mechanism is subject to Editorial Board approval and the availability of appropriate publication infrastructure.

3. Manuscripts in Progress

Manuscripts in Progress refers to manuscripts undergoing one or more stages of the journal's editorial and publication process.

These stages may include:

  1. Initial Editorial Screening: Assessment of manuscript suitability, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, formatting compliance, originality, and ethical requirements.

  2. Peer Review: Independent scientific evaluation by qualified reviewers with relevant expertise.

  3. Manuscript Revision: Author responses to editorial and reviewer comments, including corrections and improvements to the manuscript.

  4. Editorial Reassessment: Evaluation of revised manuscripts and determination of their suitability for acceptance or further revision.

  5. Copyediting: Improvement of language, formatting, consistency, and technical presentation following manuscript acceptance.

  6. Proofreading: Verification of the final article text, tables, figures, references, and publication details.

  7. Production and Publication: Preparation and release of accepted articles through the journal's online publication system.

A manuscript undergoing these processes has not necessarily been accepted for publication.

The status In Progress does not indicate final acceptance or guarantee inclusion in a forthcoming issue.

Formal acceptance is granted only after the manuscript has satisfied the journal's editorial, scientific, ethical, and peer-review requirements.

The time required for manuscript evaluation and publication may vary depending on reviewer availability, research complexity, the extent of revisions, author responsiveness, and editorial production requirements.

BANUA aims to process manuscripts efficiently while maintaining the independence, transparency, and scientific integrity of the editorial process.

4. Publication Regularity and Editorial Policy

BANUA is committed to maintaining publication regularity, editorial transparency, and consistency in the dissemination of peer-reviewed environmental health research.

The journal's biannual publication schedule supports systematic editorial planning and provides researchers with regular opportunities to publish scientifically sound research findings.

All manuscripts must undergo the required editorial and peer-review procedures before publication. The journal does not guarantee acceptance or publication within a specific period.

The Editorial Board is responsible for maintaining appropriate publication standards, managing accepted manuscripts, and ensuring that published articles comply with the journal's ethical and scientific requirements.

BANUA may adjust the timing of individual issue releases when necessary due to editorial, technical, or operational circumstances. Such adjustments do not automatically constitute a change in the journal's established publication frequency.

Any formal changes to the publication frequency or regular issue schedule will be communicated transparently through the journal's official website.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to determine publication arrangements, including the allocation of accepted articles to specific issues, while maintaining fairness, accountability, and consistency with recognized scholarly publishing standards.

5. Commitment to Timely and Ethical Publication

BANUA recognizes the importance of timely access to reliable scientific information in supporting environmental health research, public health protection, and evidence-based decision-making.

The journal is committed to:

  1. Maintaining a consistent and transparent publication schedule.

  2. Ensuring independent and rigorous peer review.

  3. Facilitating efficient editorial communication with authors and reviewers.

  4. Protecting the integrity and confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.

  5. Providing open access to published scientific articles.

  6. Maintaining accurate publication records and bibliographic information.

  7. Supporting responsible dissemination of research findings relevant to environmental health sciences.

All published articles must comply with the journal's policies on publication ethics, plagiarism, authorship, conflicts of interest, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Through these commitments, BANUA seeks to strengthen the quality, accessibility, and reliability of scientific publications in environmental health and related disciplines.
